Decade Capacitor Box by GenRad

The GenRad 1412-BC Decade Capacitor Box offers a wide capacitance range and high resolution, making it useful in both lab and testing environments. Its precise capacitance adjustment makes it a convenient variable capacitor for use with an Impedance Analyzer. Polystyrene dielectrics used in the decades are essential for applications requiring low dielectric absorption and consistent capacitance and dissipation factors across frequencies. Housed in a two-shielded box, four polystyrene decade capacitors and one variable air capacitor are employed in the GenRad 1412-BC. The double shields provide identical 2-terminal and 3-terminal capacitances, except for the capacitance between the terminals. The variable air capacitor has a linear ΔC of 100 pF and a resolution better than 1 pF, enabling continuous adjustment between the smallest decade's 100 pF steps.
